How does offline folder work if the server has replaced with another one

dear all,

i have windows server 2003 acting dc, dns, , file server. files physically stored on server , shared based on user permission. netwoek drives re mapped on teh worksattions , all laptops configured offline access when user goes out of office can access data.

i am upgrading my server to hardware windows server 2008 mean data transferred new server. want know how handle offile line folders laptop users. challange traveling of time , have huge data offline. if remove teh older map , create share new server takes lot of time configure folder offline access.

does teh best solution handle situation. want have less user impact. right because of issue migration on hold.

in case can add new server domain , configure required without removing old server. once initial setup of new server done, backup entire database existing server , restore on new 1 along ntfs/share permissions (use robocopy). can alter offline mapped folders settings use new server share name. test on few users first ensure works , move users new share on new machine. try testing before full migration.

robocopy
