i have 2 node server 2008 r2 hyper-v cluster.this cluster has 2 100gig luns attached have been configured csv. have 2 highly available vms running. i under impression hyper-v uses physical memory , not using virtual memory. say, have 2 beefy hosts has 256gigs of ram each. i have set vm use 65gigs of ram. have 1 drive on vm 50gig drive, 20.3gigs free. when vm off, lun shows 66% free space, when turn vm on lun shows 15% free space.   so vm using lun memory or missing something? when vm powered on there placeholder file created on file system equal size of ram of vm. this file ensure there enough physical space reserved save memory state of vm , vm goes svaed state. if vm goes saved state file replaced memory of vm. there no way modify behvior in way, other reducing ram of vm - file decreases in size accordingly. this not used memory paging or - strictly placeholder , failsafe.   brian ehlert (hopefully have found useful) http://itproctology.blogspot.com

hi guys, so i've migrated domain windows 2003 r2 on windows 2012 r2 , far running ok. had few problems relating orphaned dc's have cleared now. however, i'm trying grips using group policy. when migrated, old policy settings seemed have come across , things seem still locked down ok, in relation ous. run network @ our local college have student container applies lock-down policy. these gpos setup else. i setup test network @ home before did said migration , comparing group policy settings, namely default ones, , have noticed default domain controllers policy has been set enforced on newly migrated domain. @ home on test server see not enforced default , wondering why is? have been reading can't find tells me should enforced wary disable setting. students return on monday don't want mess @ stage. one thing did find odd when first opened gpo's, prompted message stated policies in sysvol folder not consistent ones in ad followed recommendation update.

(see other thread), server 2008, running ps v2. we keep getting following 3 errors in server log: wsman operation signalshell failed, error code 995 wsman operation receiveshelloutput failed, error code 995 received response network layer; status: 401 (http_status_denied) i can generate 995 error entering pssessions e.g: ---pssession.ps1--- $store = "store-8899-1" invoke-command -computername $store -scriptblock {get-culture} ---pssession.ps1--- the command doesn't error , returns culture of pc. the 401 error not sure on causing seems related our scripts uses pssessions, winrm remoting or whatever it's called. i ran pssession against win 7 pc , sti

we have 2-tier window 2008 server pki.  root ca standalone subordinate enterprise ca issuing certs.  configured:  1. duplicated user template, given correct permission auto enrollment. added email address on user account.                    2. published new user template.                    3. configured new gpo, link enabled ou.                objective:    enable user cert auto enrollment                  problem.. 1. ) enabled enhanced logging on workstations.  error message, "automatic certificate enrollment could not find certificate authorities in enterprise .  enrollment not performed:.  seems me workstation not requesting certs. looking @ error code, denied requests due several different reasons not consistent single error.  suspect problem caused permission issue or crl validation.    i'm think reinstalling windows 2008  sub-enterprise ca. how or steps take valid?  saw utility certutil -? appreciate help. hi, windows xp sp3 has added su

hi i used powershell cmdlet uninstall-windowsfeature server-gui-shell -rmove to convert core gui whenever try convert gui install-windowsfeature server-gui-shell fails. how use windows update source in above cmdlet install gui again regards ... idea gents ... ask on here , converting to/from core not supported essentials. i'm not on whs team, post lot. :) Windows Server  >  Windows Server 2012 Essentials
