we have 8 node cluster running rds/vdi. have 3 collections 30 pooled desktops each in them. if in server manager, under collections; there 3 boxes. box goes across top shows collections. bottom split 2 boxes. 1 box on left titled "host servers" , 1 on right titled "connections". under host servers section, shows list of 8 of rd virtualzation hosts, , how many virtual desktops running on each. issue i'm seeing counts interface shows do not match @ all shows under failover cluster manager. is there not working right? there way interface "re-inventory" counts correct? or interface pretty useless in regard (among others)? i have logged off , re-opened server manager 20-30 times on past months , it's wrong. does inaccuracy effect connections? have users time time spinning donut when try connect. makes me think maybe system whole not know it's virtual desktops located causes issues. thanks. hi, doesn’t figure out wrong number(

i had question regarding hyper-v sizing guests , allocating cores.. in past think rule of thumb not put more vm's on given hyper-v server cores.. if had 8 cores, 8 vm's max.. , if vm required 4 cores, left 4, 5 max worst case.. in reading online sounds if thinking no longer applies? case example of our new hyper-v server..  i have xeon e5-2650 v3 2.3 ghz 10 core.. 2 of them.. 20 physical cores, 40 hyper threaded.. i'm assuming ht doesnt count much.. said.. taking example of virtualizing exchange, think requires minimum of 4 cores.. assign 4 cores vm example... leaving 36 cores.. in past i'd assign more 1 core vm if needed it.. ie: instance new 2012 r2 file servers, still have set 1 single core , hammered dpm agents running sync tasks.. i thought read give vm's more cores might need , utilize needed.. so had 10 vm's using 4 cores.. using 40 of whats "available", old thinking no more vm's should added or assigned more cores, think d

we running w2k8 r2, , had started running dhcp.  but, because of need remote boot new machine needed add active directory server.  after adding active directory our dhcp server not run, saying first needs authorized.  however, there no option (either under action menu or when right-clicking on dhcp server) authorize.  thought maybe problem caused dhcp being on prior active directory, after removing dhcp , adding same problem. can on this? rick rick unfortunately, nothing resolved needed do.  resolve dhcp issue had remove relevant services , re-add them, losing user accounts @ same time, had start scratch.  and, creating terminal apparently not possible windows server, using xp machine , logging in rdp, trying change. i appreciate tried give, went around in big circle , have ended started. rick rick Windows Server  >

2008 r2 installed , setup perfectly. tried add using dcpromo existing domain 2 pre-existing 2008 dc's. dcpromo said need run forestprep isn't true - run ages ago , functional level raised wsindows 2008. how round this. ad services installed won't start. can't deleted because not installed properly. can't installed because thinks needs forestprep. stuck in endless loop ......................................... help thanks guys - never noticed adprep32 on 2008r2 disk - feeling pretty stupid now. all working great now. there's none blind them eyes shut! regards keith Windows Server  >  Directory Services

hi, we have windows server 2012 r2 failover cluster 5 hyperv nodes in it. servers hp dl380g6 servers , each run set of vms. vms stored on 3 csv volumes presented our hp 3par san via iscsi. windows servers have latest updates (including hotfixes relating csv volumes). using altaro take backup of our vms onto nas device. connections via 2 x 10g nics configured lacp team. graphing suggests these nics close saturation (traffic maybe peaks @ 1.1gbps). vmqs disabled on these interfaces. the problem we're having that, when full backups run, several csv related errors such follwoing: - cluster shared volume 'volume11' ('hp3par-lun22_hvcl02-vol11') has entered paused state because of '(c00000b5)'. i/o temporarily queued until path volume reestablished. - cluster shared volume 'volume10' ('hp3par-lun21_hvcl02-vol10') no longer accessible cluster node because of error '(1460)'. please troubleshoot node's connectivity storage de
