Windows 7 - unsigned drivers - how does win7 handle it?


hello,
i transfered old gpo preferences 2k3 to new windows 7/2k8 domain manually. 1 point isn´t still in server2008 "devices: unsigned driver behavior".

now question: how win7 handle unsigned drivers. thought  x64 needs signed drivers only!? not x86... can centralized install unsigned drivers without problems on win 7 x86 machines?

please understand "devices: unsigned driver installation behavior" group policy setting not appear in local group policy editor user interface (ui) on computer running windows server 2008/windows vista/windows7.

 

given situation, please refer following kb article manually add "devices: unsigned driver installation behavior" group policy setting.

 

how let user apply group policy has "devices: unsigned driver installation behavior" group policy setting windows vista-based computer client computer

note: based on test, above method works windows server 2008 , windows7.

 

however, if encounter permission issue when saving sceregvl.inf file, please perform following steps

 

1.    right click sceregvl.inf file , select properties.

2.    on security tab, click advanced.

3.    when prompted window shows up, on owner tab, change owner appropriate account such administrator.

4.    click ok.

5.    on security tab, click edit.

6.    click administrator account , set full control allow.

7.    click ok.
