Formula fields do not update automatically in Word 2010 for a downloaded document.

we have merge template document, merged on server before user downloads it. used come "undefined!" error calculated fields, until we selected word options>> display >> printing option & selected "update fields before printing" in word 2007. , fixed issue in word 2007, users have been upgraded to word 2010, doesn't automatically update after making sure "update fields before printing" selected.

i not want change the template as universal, , affect lot of people , working fine else except users on word 2010.

please advise best way resolve without changing template.. our users dont hitting ctrl+a & ctrl+f9 update fields each time download document off net.

mean that, if fix field code, won't see "undefined! bookmark, $" or need right click on th field , click "update field" before sorts out. you've posted, fix nothing more complicated using:
{={mergefield balance}/11 \# "$,0.00;-$,0.00"}
or:
{={mergefield balance \# "0.00"}/11 \# "$,0.00;-$,0.00"}
and, if want eliminate residual {= $138.70/ 11\# "$,0.00;-$,0.00"} field code output document:
{quote{={mergefield balance}/11 \# "$,0.00;-$,0.00"}}
or:
{quote{={mergefield balance \# "0.00"}/11 \# "$,0.00;-$,0.00"}}
