Windows Deployment Services - Multiple Subnets
we experiencing issues while trying deploy wds our backbone network our various subnets. using windows server 2012 r2, , troubleshooting reasons have tested windows server 2008 r2 same results. troubleshooting reasons router has been configured allow traffic has been allowed between internal subnets. let me give incite our network setup
- wds , dhcp separated on 2 different servers, , both reside on our backbone network.
- we using option 66 , 67 redirect pxe clients wds server.
- our backbone network can boot pxe wds, , works expected.
- our alternate subnets use ip helpers relay dhcp requests dhcp server.
- our alternate subnets can aquire dhcp address, , boot pxe server.
- the problem (on alternate subnets) occurs after bootmgr.exe loaded.
- after bootmgr.exe loaded tries download /boot/bcd file tftp server (or wds server)
- after inspecting reminst nfs share noticed file /boot/bcd not exist.
- when move same pxe client backbone network imaging process works expected.
- when pxe client on backbone not request /boot/bcd file, rather dynamically generated bcd file /tmp folder on tftp server.
did miss setup step? how can wds working in alternate subnets?
my best guess issue lies dhcp config or ip helper defined on router.
