hi,

what version of microsoft word using?

>>but after cannot modify either new ones or old ones created because dialog box pops "word cannot open document - user not have access privileges."

when did error? did pop when trying open documents or try open equation editor in document?

does issue happen documents (including existing , newly created ones)?

>>and no, not use norton anti-virus...i use mcafee.

please try disable integration of mcafee in microsoft word (could add-in), , see if issue continues. may contact support of mcafee know detailed steps this. after disabling integration, try creating new document see result. existing equations corrupted due mcafee integration.

regards,

steve fan
