Apparantly, failure is an option.

ok, approved 2 dozen updates last week. have @ dozen out of 3200 pcs failed. there 4 updates have 90% fail rate. i’ve tried sorts of things work such stop windows update service , delete softwaredistribution files, restarting service , trying again. i’ve tried import update on wsus. looked @ sorts of errors on google, nothing seems make dent. there pdf wsus trio has troubleshooting guide figure out might missing?

i found @ same time system restore tried write, system restore believe disabled through gpo, not 100% on though.

failed create restore point on volume (process = c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs; descripton = windows update; hr = 0x80070422).

so i’m not sure if update needed run system restore , create save point , failed, therefore update failed.

disabling system restore interfere windows update functionality on vista or later system.

however, when turn off windows update service , ran them manually worked.

when run installation manually, wu service not involved, , no system restore point generated.
