Server 2008 SMB session tracking/limits
hi, have server (running server 2008 enterprise 32bit, r1, sp2) , server b (running server 2003 standard 32bit, sp2).
server has application on starts lot of telnet sessions itself, , each session mapping shared drive on server b (a "net use..." part of telnet connection).
the mappings seem build on server b (as viewed "net session" on server b) in excess of number of telnet sessions running on server a.
eventually response mapped sessions on server stops working, , new mappings not work. solution have found reboot server clear things out. it's if server has hit ceiling on number of mappings same share on server b can handle. (at point server can create mappings other shares)
so, there limit on number of drive mappings (to same drive) on 1 machine (server a)?
is there way enumerate/visualize of existing drive mappings on server a? (doing net view shows 1 mapped drive logged in user)
thanks.
hi,
the mapped drives limited within 26-drive-letter, including local hard disk drive , optical drive. far know, there no number limit mapped drives mapping server.
you may run command “net share” list shares. more information, please refer following microsoft technet blog:
how can determine drives mapped network shares?
based on current situation, please try following suggestions check result:
1. disable smb signing navigating hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserver\parameters , modifying enablesecuritysignature value 0.
2. disable restrictanonymous navigating hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa , modifying restrictanonymous value 0.
