Using XCOPY from domain to Workgroup

i have simple xcopy ran scheduled task between two server 2003 computers.

xcopy c:\qsp\qspfiles.txt xx.xx.xx.xx\dailyupdates /s /e /y  (missing leading \\ ip because ms not let me transmit without verifying account...........)

one in domain , other workgroup. i now trying run same xcopy task between server 2012 , same workgroup server , having no success. cannot map shared directory between 2 servers. can ping, rdp, , resolve between two.  i receiving errors such "invalid drive specification" , error 0x80070035. have read on 3 dozen articles on subject, suggesting smb, net use, firewalls, digital signing of communications, , many others. of yet, have not seen answer subject. blogs have died mid stream without answer. guess have brought workgroup domain make work.

the bottomline: possible to xcopy between 2012 domain server and 2003 workgroup directory and/or map workgroup shared directory 2012 domain server?

hi,

ài can ping, rdp, , resolve between two.

would please let me confirm whether ping each other ip address , name? both ping successfully?

àxcopy c:\qsp\qspfiles.txt xx.xx.xx.xx\dailyupdates /s /e /y

would please let me confirm whether dailyupdates destination folder? when in workgroup server, can type \\domain-server-name (or ip-address)\share-folder in run access destination (such dailyupdates mentioned)?

i test in lab environment. has 2 servers, 1 windows server 2003 (workgroup), , 1 windows server 2012 in domain environment (as dc). create share folder (named destination) in windows server 2012 , share everyone. in windows server 2003, create folder (named source) , create files in folder. run xcopy command (xcopy “c:\source” \\domain-server-name\destination /s /e /y) in windows server 2003 administrator account. find files in source folder in windows server 2003 (workgroup) copied destination folder in windows server 2012 (domain).

if misunderstand or update, please don’t hesitate let me know.

hope helps.

best regards,

justin gu
