Cluster HW

hi,

 

can tell me if hardware in cluster have identical?  i.e. same model servers w/ same motherboard, same ram, same hdd config, etc.

beginning w2k8 failover clustering, cluster hcl goes wayside.  becasue of new built-in validation process, things have changed.  new support policy says...if hardware\software has windows server 2008 logo , validation tests pass...you supported.  here new kb article discusses -

having said that, ideally same and, part, vendors going provide solutions run w2k8 failover clusters contain same hardware.

 

if could, please provide specific example of mean.  must have in mind have asked question, if see 1 example here, perhaps provide detailed response helpful everyone who monitors forum.
