DFS Replication - failback
hi all,
i have 2 ad sites (site1 , site2) , in each site 1 w2k8 r2 file server ad namespace (referral ordering - "lowest cost"), bidirectional dfs replication , client failback enabled.
my scenario is:
file server in site1 down , users site1 redirected data on fileserver in site2 (users located in site1). fileserver in site1 still down , users created 2tb's of data on fileserver in site2. after while fileserver in site1 comes up. takes 1 day untill data fileserver in site2 replicated fileserver in site1. in meanwhile users failback fileserver in site1 (because he's again) - data fileserver in site2 still not replicated fileserver in site1. users have not accessible data created while fileserver in site1 down (because replication still running).
is kind scenario possible? possibility clients failback after data replicated?
thanx
hi,
i can think of disabling referral target during these scenarios. if noticed failover happened file sever @ site 2 disable referral target of file server 1 @ site 1. users redirect file server in site 2. in background replciation happening fine. once verified data replicated, can enable referral target of file server @ site 1 in namespace.
it trick, not sure if recommended.. :)
