W2012R2 DHCP Failover - Bad Address
hi,
the scenario following:
- 2 win2012 r2 servers configured dhcp. each @ different city.
- all of scopes configured in failover (load balancing)
- all of pcs have own reservation (customer policy)
- all of pc's mac address registered @ filter (allow)
- every day occur approx. 10 reservations "bad_address" @ name, , mac value other original mac address (different reservations affected).
- the update kb2919355 installed @ both servers (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/teamdhcp/2014/02/24/dhcp-failover-fixes-in-kb-2919393-for-windows-server-2012-and-kb-2919355-for-windows-server-2012-r2/).
the questions are:
is above behavior normal behavior @ dhcp failover?
if no,
what else review/configure resolve above bad address problem?
i'll appreciate help.
thanks in advance!
hi sccmadmin09,
1. may ping ip address being marked bad address, to check if ip addresses in use;
2. bad addresses random or specific ip addresses. bad address disappear after period of time;
3. check if have multihomed dhcp clients connect same subnet, , dhcp server multihomed;
4. check if there error log dhcp server;
5. if above troubleshooting thoughts couldn't find out issue, may use network monitor on 1 of "bad address client" and dhcp server. use ipconfig/release&renew on client, , watch behavior of dhcp client , dhcp server:
network monitor download:
