Internet not working in my test lab

hi all,

learning exchange 2003 making test lab setup trainsignal’s exchange 2003 video training course. please see attached picture network configuration, stuck problem not able use internet on test network. owa, , emails working fine internally of course send/receive emails outside network internet should working i’ve stuck. please let me know can resolve issue.

info on nat1 pc, on second nic interface don’t know dns address should use because don’t know isp’s address, i’ve tried google’s public dns 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4 still no joy.

that looks little better.

assuming the cable modem smc unit, disable dhcp services. puts "bridged" mode nat server handle traffic. if not smc unit, please contact cable provider on how put bridged mode.

how configure nat on non-domain controller:


1. if ad infrastructure, make sure nics point internal dns server(s) , none others, such isp’s dns servers’ ip addresses. if not ad infrastructure, use isp's dns.

2. external interface 1 gateway, either router or firewall ip or isp's ip if configured isp modem bridged mode (such comcast smc of verizon actiontec or westell mode). internal interface gatewa must blank.

3. if windows 2000 or 2003, install rras. use wizard , choose nat.

4. window 2000 - 2003 in network & dialup properties, or windows 2008 , newer in network , sharing center, choose manage connections. in menu bar, choose advanced menu item, advanced settings, move internal nic (the network ad on) top of binding order (top of list).

5. disable netbios on outside nic. how? open ip properties, advanced, wins tab, choose disable netbios.

6. disable “file , print service” , disable “ms client service” on outer nic. done in nic properties unchecking respective service under general properties page. if need these services on outside nic (which unlikely), allow other machines connect machine accessing resource on machine (shared folders, printers, etc.), need keep them enabled, in 99% of cases i've seen, not case.

7. uncheck “register connection” under ip properties, advanced settings, “dns” tab.

8. machine can have 1 gateway address, interface connects isp. if internal has gateway address, cause problems.

9. if dns not running on nat server, ignore step. if dns running on nat device, open dns console, right-click dns server name, properties, interface tab. make sure internal interface selected. remove external interface ip address.

10. configure fowarder. choose appropriate link based on os:
