Highly available file server - how to proceed
first of all, sorry if posting in wrong forum area.
i trying plan best course of action migrating existing file server based on windows server 2003 windows server 2008 based cluster , thereby getting 2 birds 1 stone:
* high availability.
* bigger luns shares / more disk space.
however want make sure cluster resource has same name outgoing file server in order avoid having reconfigure drive mappings applications uses file shares on current file server.
last not least want minimize downtime involved since our users unable work without access home folders etc.
has been in situation , know best way proceed in order move data, keeping ntfs permissions , shares intact, avoiding conflict of cluster resource having same name old file server , @ same minimizing downtime ?
thanks in advance. advice appreciated.
