Missing files after Windows File Server Migration

hello,

i moving shares server 2003 box new server 2012 r2 box. installed windows server migration tools , copied 1 share. @ least thought successful. share on new server missing 10 files (approx. 4mb) old share. old share shows 131,984 files , new share shows 131,974 files. looked @ servermigration.log file , not show errors in summary.

here is:

summary:
data migrated: 131,984 (189,222.43 mb)
shares migrated: 1
encrypted files skipped: 0
files not migrated due errors: 0
shares not migrated due errors: 0
errors: 0
warnings: 0

you think there kind of explanation in log file.

also, other myself, 2 people have access these share , sleeping during of migration process and they not have remote access these shares. there wasn't accidental change made on share during migration.

thanks,

gary

hi gary,

i think first thing find out exact files missing.

you can robocopy , save log see result. default robocopy not copy exists file should finished 10 files not copied.

robocopy <source> <target> /log:log.txt

sometimes missing files caused permission or file locked during migration. need check exact files once got result.
