Windows.edb - huge files

hi

i noticed "windows.edb" consuming huge space 

c:\programdata\microsoft\search\data\applications\windows

os : windows 2008 r2

question :

a. it's safe delete file ?

b. how stop in future ?

c. there imact if delete files

based on research, windows.edb file extensible storage engine database of windows search service.

it safe delete windows.edb file. please turn off windows search service before deleting file.

if use windows search feature lot, might not want delete file. because deleting windows.edb file lead slower searching speed.

i recommend move windows.edb location has larger disk space. please perform following steps move file:

1. enter indexing options search field on start menu.
2. click on indexing options.
3. click on advanced at bottom.
4. click on select new , specify new location windows.edb file.
5. click on ok , wait until windows restarted windows.
