Help replacing PDC

help me oh great ad gurus of net. 

ups failed (of course, right?) crashed drive in my win 2k8 r1 32bit  domain controller.  luckily, have one, seized roles , transfered ok.    able dhcp database off old dc , moved over!  points that. 

anyway, thought went going ok until try access resource in different domain in have trust relationship with...   using an account in domain dc crashed, fail authenticate when accessing anything.   people ok thought , presume because have cached credentials -  how long until stop working?  

i error can't contact domain controller "insert domain name here".

this must dns issue right?

i wanted rebuild dc win2k8 r2 anyway.

so question(s) is/are -

if use same name new dc old dc, running issues?  or be easier use new name , clean old one?

should try fix issue cross-domain authentication thing failing?

seems rebuilding same name best doesn't domain still know old dc, though seized rolls , shtuff?

appreciate quick response.   :)
