The Mac cannot connect to the Windows-based computer?
hi,
i'm trying connect windows vps using remote desktop connection mac os. when enter ip , try connect, following error:
"the mac cannot connect windows based computer.
this problem can occur if:
• windows-based computer not set accept remote connections.
• windows-based computer not turned on.
• mac, or windows-based computer experiencing network problems."
checked vps provider, vps definetely accepting remote connections (firewall disabled), definetely on, , in fact can connect fine windows pc. what's going on here?
hi,
i assume vps running windows server 2008 (r2)?
have enabled access client types? "allow connections computers running version remote desktop services"?

you can try if can telnet port 3389 sure not blocked somewhere in connection vsp.
this instruction http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=187628&wa=wsignin1.0 :
telnet tserv 3389
"tserv" host name or ip number terminal server.
if telnet successful, receive telnet screen , cursor. on terminal server, terminal server administration show blue computer icon no other information. telnet connection consume idle session.
terminal server should disconnect connection after few minutes. or, can disconnect using telnet.
test tells you can connect on port.
if telnet reports cannot connect, there several possible reasons:
if can connect replacing "tserv" terminal server's ip address not host name, may have dns or wins resolution problem.
- if can connect when "tserv" host name, cannot connect when "tserv" computer name, may have netbios name resolution issue wins or lmhosts file.
- if cannot connect when "tserv" ip address, host name, or computer name, port 3389 blocked somewhere in wan.
