Silverlight or HTML5

hello,

a-    should continue learn silverlight, or change mind html5?
b-    html5 has equivalent silverlight ria services? what’s name?
c-    can recommend book learn develop html business projects?

why i’m asking these questions:

i’m maintaining intranet website made in asp.net (c#), new projects want change new technology, because:

-    i want have curriculum updated can have more work opportunities.
-    i want use technology not deprecated in near future.

reading book teaches how create silverlight business oriented web sites. moment, i’ve learned create basic user interfaces able call ria services via domain context classes, , thus, read , update data on server. have read ¼ of book.

time had voices on head telling me i’m maybe on wrong path, on lots of forums, people says silverlight dead in next future, microsoft has declared made shift html5, , support silverlight limited amount of years, , no newer versions developed.

cannot permit myself waste limited time in learning not optimally well-spent.

recommend, please …? here , there, people ask similar questions, answers depend on profile person answer has. if she/he ‘microsoft.net used-to’, recommend microsoft. if not, html5.

time being, don’t have concrete , impartial answer. mind confused learn in developing stuff, never was, far can remember.

i agree thinking extent, perhaps not taking far enough.  programmers dont last decade or 2 in chosen field because learning curves , start taking easy, resting on past, , not learning.  important keep learning rate down, when possible.  mind rebel.  so, real question is, why learning anything? 

instead of preparing vague general work opportunities might out there, decide interests you, find job in first, , let them pay learn.  otherwise, out of career in fifteen years, , not want learn else.  know sounds backwards, of stuff learn when learn no real way apply it, or applying on nights , weekends, not retained same way anyway.  think through before take on learn it, have much, , wont be willing anymore.

oh, , if offered job doing lke vb6, unless paying million dollars, dont take it.  let employer train , developer many years want, pick employer/training carefully.
