i getting following in directory service section of event viewer:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

event type:    information
event source:    ntds general

event id:    1181
date:        2/24/2011

-----------------------------------------------------------

i have 2 2003 r2 sp2 dcs in 1 forest, separate sites. both new installs, 1 in (the year, not os) 2008 , in 2009, not upgraded else. error occurring on first one, still has of fsmo roles.

a few years ago extended schema attributes samba/winbind id mapping. used application partition ldap backend on oss/linux end. worked great. simplify our environment bit, decided switch simpler mapping scheme (idmap-rid), have done , working fine. (*end of relation oss/linux world*)

after this, had application partition replicated between both sites, removed using combination of editing msds-nc-replica-locations through adsiedit, , using ntdsutil. still no issues far; see changes on both dcs.

at point decided don't want attributes , classes i'd added schema, found way remove them (the schemaupdateinprogress trick). careful remove lower classes , attributes first, not being sure whether there dependency checking present. no apparent issues here either. done , done on original dc has roles.

however, now, when update schema in adsiedit, or if use update schema cache/

ldifde method on page: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756399%28ws.10%29.aspx , 22 of these id1181 events in event viewer. there no accompanying id1150's, mentioned on page.

i have verified netdiag , dcdiag clear except notifying me event log entries (which first alerted issue). i've done "repadmin /syncall /user:domain\user /pw:password" credentials , report success. strange me other dc in other site correctly shows application partitions , schema extensions gone, not have these events in viewer when update schema cache on it. have no symptoms besides event viewer , dcdiag warning me events.

so...no problem reports far, rebooted first dc , events don't show until manually update cache, i'm getting normal events example ntdsa defrag completing successfully, , generic "i'm replicating again" message when rebooting....really else seems running fine.

so just some deal cache work out? or going have transfer roles #2 dc, demote #1, , re-promote it? if makes difference...i'm moving server 2008 sp2 (non-r2) on both i'm sure there no problem here. planning on using method expand schema on 1 of 2003r2 dc's, , install new 2008 dc.

thank in advance insight.
