Win7 Windows Explorer search Fails (file name)
the expert @ ms answers forum (james) suggested re-post problem here.(thread below) workplace tech support has had ticket since before christmas , acknowledge problem can't figure out.
search fails reliably find files entering portion of file name search term. have tens of thousands of files in hundreds of subfolders , need able search parent folder round related files entering portion of filename search term. using 64 bit version if matters.
example, there 2 files (a doc , pdf) exact same name (gis-projectviewer_detailtemplate_sampledata) in same folder on local hard drive.
a search of folder using search term "gis" finds both files, along few other legitimate results.
changing search term to "template" finds doc file only. different strings produce different results, i.e. the search term "viewer" finds neither file. learned about search filters , tried prefixing that search term "template" name: file:, , filename: and causes fail find either file.
i notice in search results, search term is highlighted within filename, , not. appears inconsistent using different portions of filename.
i'm frustrated, appreciated.
