Splitting DNS by OU
hi all,
i'm wondering if can let me know whether possible?
i have ~1,000 users going through windows server 2008 servers running dns role.
is possible configure in such way users in ou x resolve 'blahblah.domain.com' 1 address, other users resolving 'blahblah.domain.com' different address?
i've configured internal/external splitting, don't know whether it's possible have internal/internal/external split?
any appreciated.
thanks,
gavin
i agree meinolf. not possible. here dns related settings gpos allow control:
dns group policy settings

bind dns has "views" setting allows answer based on querying client's ip subnet, won't appear work you, , may administrative overhead configuring bind ad infrastructure.
usually in split-zone setup, in such scenario hosting resource (web server, mail server, etc) on internet internal server, outside world needs resovle wan address, internally, needs resolve internal, private ip.
from post, appears have diffrerent going on. referring possibly duplicate data hosted @ different locations, such in different offices, want users in ny, resolve resource ny resource, , users in say, philly, resolve philly resource? if that's case, subnet priortization kick in, users resolve resource hostname ip closest matches own subnet bits.
if it's ad resource, such dcs (logon, authenticate, exchange cas, dfs, etc), cses (client side extensions), resolve based on ad site. however, i'm not sure scenario in case, therefore, it's difficult offer work. if yuo can elaborate bit examples, may able offer alternative.
