Certificate authority

i have ca installed on win server 2008 r2

i need upgrade ca using sha2 using below command

certutil -setreg ca\csp\cnghashalgorithm sha256

my question if upgrade ca happen certificate using sha1 , stop working or still working , can renew use sha2 anytime?

sorry late reply.

i have there no official documents state no impact on existing certificates after upgrading ca sha2.

as long certificate , previous root certificate valid, certificate remain valid. if still have concern this, may test in lab environment before upgrading.
