IPAM Hybrid vs Distributed Topology

looking on 3 topologies supported ipam in article, 2 of them close:

distributed: ipam server deployed @ every site
hybrid: central ipam server deployed along dedicated ipam server per site


taking account ipam servers don't communicate amongst themselves, nor share database, (1) how hybrid mode different distributed mode , (2) specific functional advantage of 1 of these 2 mentioned modes ? more point - central ipam server in hybrid mode ?
