File Permissions Driving me Batty!

can this?

we share out d:\users.  has access folder.

under there, have administration more limited permissions.  under have jsmith, , originally, had access under that.  caused backups fail.  have gone in , changed permissions not inherit, when @ directories, see admin has rights folders, none of docs under them....

for instance:

d:\users\administration\jsmith     (access, jsmith , admin, full)
d:\users\administration\jsmith\personal    (access, jsmith , admin, full)
d:\users\administration\jsmith\personal\doc1.docx   (access, jsmith)

any files under of folders have him permissions.  if go top level jsmith directory, , choose special permissions, , assign jsmith , admin full access , click "replace child object permissions....", files under directories remain accessible jsmith.

what doing wrong?

hi dave,

please try explicitly assign permissions admin on file below see happens:

d:\users\administration\jsmith\personal\doc1.docx

best regards,
amy
