Cluster Aware Updating, WSUS, and SCCM
howdy,
wasn't sure post works ok here.
we use sccm handle pushing patches of our workstations , servers. however, don't have push clustered machines since don't think supports cluster updating. of our machines set use sccm server wsus server don't approve there since sccm takes care of us.
so, best way go around patching our clustered machines? need have 2nd wsus server or can use sccm server?
here's i'm thinking please let me know i'm missing.
option 1: approve updates on sccm server's wsus program set workstations , servers never check updates don't pushed out @ all. should not affect sccm should patch how works now. however, run cau , i'm guessing see approved updates , compare servers , know need , patch them properly?
option 2: have second wsus server , point clustered servers @ it. run cau against server , should work normally. problem figuring out how make sure same updates being installed sccm , wsus servers in sync.
option 3: i've seen pretty complicated scripting methods accomplish cluster updating via sccm using orchestrator or other things. know nothing know if easy setup , make work or not since bypasses wsus guess it'd way of keeping in sync.
are there other options or of these not work? i'm guessing #1 no since see people saying not touch wsus on sccm server or bad things can happen.
thanks!
first, need integrate them, see here
