Volume shadow copy

hi team

we using windows server 2003-enterprise edition on cluster file server/services. have configured volume of 1.5 tb on cluster used reddundant fs. 1.5 tb volume san using iscsi protocol. users getting romaing profile , folders redirection happening there. unc path user becomes \\cluster-01\branch01\depart\data\%username%\.

we regularly take backup using snapshots of san , tape time consuming restore if there unwanted incident. avoid siutuation, tried use volume shadow copy , pretty impressive , can restore data in few minutes. before configure volume shadow copy in live network want me understand below mentioned queries.

1. if configure scheduled impact on network? didn't find high system utilization or degraded performance related issues.

2. why takes 300 mb creating volume shadow copies? tried on small drive , took 300 mb , tried on 1.5 tb volume again same smout of 300mb.

3. if using clustered fs volume functional @ 1 server only. need configure volume shadow copy on both nodes of cluster?

3. users delete data , need need figureout user decided enable auditing, need enable auditing on both nodes of cluster?

please me understand these.

1 & 2: vss backup file when changed before write disk --- snapshot small @ first , grow when files change lot. not generate high system utilization when snapshot created , size not large @ first.

3. vss created per hard disk. if 1 node enough not need enable on other one.

4. can enable on both nodes.
