Windows Server 2008 R2 - Unable to install Windows Updates, unable to add features, unable to uninstall Windows Management Framework
the problems system started when tried install exchange update via windows update - kb2756164.
the update failed information suggested problems due windows management framework 3.0 had come in update. started thread no resolution - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/exchange2010/thread/32d36059-c22c-4623-99f2-2786914a5f3d
we unable uninstall windows management framework 3.0. uninstall begins, when the system reboots, "failure configuring windows updates" shown reboots again , not uninstalled.
we have since found other windows updates failing same error code 8007054f.
additionally, attempting install msmq (message queuing) feature using server manager failed , requests reboot revert changes, never gets installed.
as highly suspected sort of corruption issue windows update database tried system update readiness tool @ http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14668. has been unable resolve issue.
this cbs log file hoping might shed light on issue.

you have damages in key hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\component based servicing\package, possibly there more of them readiness tool can't detect @ once. , besides windows update issues, components corrupt make you unable add/remove features.
