SQL Server Management Express 2008

my computer has windows vista home, x86. have been using visual web developer express 2005 , ssme 2005, upgraded vwde 2008  sp1 (that upgrade  included upgrade sql server 2008). of course, need upgrade ssme 2008 web sites have changed vwde 2008.

 

i have downloaded file , tried install several times. when sql installation center, choose upgrade, get select features page, selections greyed out , can't go further because error message says, "select feature install." have tried install ssme 2008 without upgrade sql installation center , same type of greyed out stuff , can't make selections.

 

after spending morning reading blogs , technical columns, left having no idea of how ssme 2008 working on computer. ideas? (admittedly, hobbiest web developer , not real "techy" lost in of discussions).

sorry delay, had run scenario myself verify behavior you're seeing. based on results you've returned, still have not performed edition upgrade, why you're seeing error see. believe case because indicate you're getting page select feature error; select feature page not exist during edition upgrade, if you're seeingth page, you've selected wrong option. i'll try instructions again...

  1. run express advanced package have downloaded. open installation center.
  2. on left side of installation center, click link says maintenance.
  3. on maintenance page, click link says edition upgrade.

once should walked through seriese of steps following:

  • check setup rules
  • ask product key - note: filled out , can't change it, if view disabled fields should indicate have express advanced.
  • let's select instance. - note: sqlexpress in default installation of sql express.
  • checks additional edition upgrade rules
  • prints out summary
  • upgrades edition express advanced

note not offered option select features during process. way should be, edition upgrade 2 step process, first step changes registry keys , other configuration information existing instance knows express advanced. once you've completed edition upgrade, should still have installation center on screen. can following right away, there not need close , restart setup...

  1. on left side of installation center, click link says installation.
  2. on installation page, click link syas new sql server stand alone installation or add features existing installation
  3. follow installation wizard through steps of installing product until installation type page.
  4. on installation type page, select option add features existing installation of sql server 2008 , choose instance upgraded express advanced.
  5. when click next on feature selection page , should see features available in sql express advanced services not part of core sql express edition.

if don't perform first set of steps i've provided, error you've indicated trying second set.

 

hopefully sorts out issue.

Cannot create Full Text Search catalog after upgrading to V12 - Database is not fully started up or it is not in an ONLINE state

in order access new full text search capiblities of sql azure, upgraded our azure sql v12. (a day later), when try create new catalog: create fulltext catalog mycatalog default i following message: msg 9972, level 16, state 100, line 1 database not started or not in online state. try full-text ddl command again after database started , becomes online. hi scott, apologies inconvenience caused you. known issue on service side , fix going included in next update. specific case mitigated, should able use full-text search syntax now. thanks, mihaela Microsoft Azure  >  Azure SQL Database

Remote Desktop App - Error 0x207 or 0x607

hi all, i manage windows 2012 r2 network, including connection broker, session hosts , remote apps virtual servers.  i've used remote desktop app on own android phone, no issues @ - connects published gateway url , can login , access network. we looking move business onto nokia handsets ms operating system (currently on blackberry), not able connect via remote desktop app on nokia lumia handset. setup, per android config , brings remote apps , remote desktop screen, know can connect.  when select remote desktop, shows following process: initiating remote connection securing remote connection certificate can't verified - choose connect it digitally signed cert (digicert sha2), pc name different physical connection broker name (inherited domain name old gov project - can't publish publicly) initiating establishing securing connection error have been 0x207 getting 0x607 a bit baffled, work on android (and ipad @ home using app). assume ms use d...
