hi all,

i have win server 2008 r2 x64, , hyper v server role configured on it.

there 3 physical network interfaces on server. possible bind desired physical lan interface desired virtual machine?

thanks

hi,

it possible. when creating external network in hyper-v, virtual network switch created , bound selected physical adapter. new virtual network adapter created in parent partition , connected virtual network switch. child partitions can bound virtual network switch using virtual network adapters.

hyper-v supports use of vlans , vlan ids virtual network switch , virtual network adapters. hyper-v leverages 802.1q vlan trunking achieve objective. utilize functionality, virtual network switch must created on host , bound physical network adapter supports 802.1q vlan tagging.

to configure vlan virtual machine, first need physical nics support vlan tagging , need enable feature. should set on either virtual switch or individual virtual machine’s configuration. vlan id on virtual switch host or parent partition uses. vlan id setting on individual virtual machine’s settings each vm use.
