ok, possibly thinking wrong.  assume have 2003 , 2008 server, , running tests, , these files used daily..thus making changes?

so 40 hour limitation, window complete final copy, not situation 2008 server @ hour 1 , leaves @ hour 40?  have server now, need complete copy on weekend.

simple....use robocopy, xcopy, etc pre-stage server in advance , prior 40 hour window.  use robocopy, dfs-replication, or beyond compare copy on changes happen after initial stage.

so plan in looks this

1 week in advance copy data 2008 server, take 2-3 days

in 40 hours window copy on changes....this should take fraction of time.

we use beyond compare type of migration time.
