Windows 2008 RRAS with PPPOE Dial On Demand
hi all,
i have issue resolve long time....
i installed windows 2008 server r2 ee roles of:
1) hdcp server
2) rras pppoe dial on demand
my server configured following interfaces:
- lan: 192.168.0.1 (server) + dhcp (192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254)
- nic external adsl modem: 10.0.0.1
to configure rras used wizard , when finished started adsl rras interface manually.
the result connection , running both server , client doesn't reach internet server.
i read on variuos forums seems windows 2008 server configuration leaks of default gateway configuration.
obviuosly when connect lan , server using ics works fine.
i found hint written guy in forum told followin hint has resolved problem in windows 2003 server:
- added 1 static route in rras destination 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 on "dial on demand" interface (adsl)
- added 1 static route in rras destination 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 on "dial on demand" interface (adsl)
i added same static routes , following hint server reach internet, none of others client on subnet connected via nic 192.168.0.1 configured nat.
can me find way out swamp?
thanks,
luca
hi luca,
based on test, following detailed steps setup nat on scenario:
1. on nat internet connection, select create new demand-dial interface internet
2. choose lan share internet access
3. then, showing demand-dial interface wizard. input user name , password connect isp, finish wizard.
4. we need add default gateway nat server. if cannot find suitable route in routing table, packets through demand-dial interface internet.
right click static routes, select new static route. choose demand-dial interface (my interface name remote router). dialog, cannot change gateway ip, because gateway assign isp, point isp gateway. meanwhile, setting metric 1, ensure route has lower metric other route, packets choose route default gateway.
5. connect demand-dial internet.
is same configure rras nat option? if not, mind follow steps have try? routing table, appears default gateway incorrect, need set gateway point isp gateway, internal requests demand-dial interface send internet.
best regards,
aiden
