dhcp conflict detect

i'm guessing uses ping/icmp if server or client has firewall on , blocking these conflict detect not work??

that's point dhcp depends on icmp conflict detection.  so, yes, have assume ping dependency.  if dhcp servers behind firewall, maybe request icmp allowed to/from dhcp server , clients.  on local subnets, windows 2000 , later have client side conflict detection going have same concerns there.
