Server 2008 fails to Boot in SAFE mode
removed hard drive , added second machine , hard file appears intact , there not seem corruption. chkdsk runs without detecting errors.
since cannot boot drive can not turn on boot logging using msconfig , there no ntbtlog.txt file can locate.
can - log files can check - gain insight why 2008 hanging?
assume there must missing file, file won't load, permissions error, etc ...
suggestions appreciated.
hi
what’s symptom when booting normal mode? error message appear?
what’s symptom of middle part of screen when booting safe mode?
does process bar appear when booting system?
to repair problems caused problematic drivers when computer not start in safe mode, follow these steps:
1. insert windows server 2008 disk. restart computer , load system recovery tools.
2. click command prompt. @ command prompt, type notepad %windir%\ntbtlog.txt. notepad opens , displays boot log.
3. compare boot log created when system failed start in safe mode boot log created when system started in safe mode. if not have boot log created when system started in safe mode, create boot log on configured computer starting in safe mode. driver causing safe mode fail 1 of drivers not listed in boot log created when system failed, listed “loaded driver…” in boot log created when safe mode started successfully.
4. replace driver file working version, using copy command @ command prompt. start replacing or deleting drivers have been installed or updated. after replacing driver, repeat process until system starts in normal mode.
