2003 domain/forest to 2008r2

hello folks,

i inherited ad there 2008r2 servers running , have 2003 forest/domain.   have article:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/glennl/archive/2009/08/21/w2k3-to-w2k8-active-directory-upgrade-considerations.aspx

and other articles show can go wrong.  my question is, things can go wrong clear when schema upgrade 47 2008r2 servers installed?

where danger?  when raise schema or when raise functional level?

the list rather long , variety of problems adressed, hump was left behind when removed last windows 2003 domain controller.

i cannot go through every single point , read every article referenced, in many cases problem have manifested when the last w2k3 dc removed:

lm

"when add windows server 2008-based domain controller existing pre-windows server 2008 domain uses default domain policies,  client computers in domain may not work correctly."

if clients not having problems, on hump.

nt

if have no nt 4.0 based clients, you're on hump.

smb

over hump, potential problem nt 4.0

1. e, f, g - no rodc, no ocs, no problem. of course, not know if use of this. if not, no problem.

i've looked through list again , if problems meant occur, have occurred either when upgraded schema or removed last w2k3 domain controller.

the thing dfl/ffl governs version of domain controllers - it's not going stop efs working. should have no effect on 3rd party apps alluded in 1.s

all *prep references concern upgrading schema - or domain. had upgraded domain (adprep /domainprep)?

if so, on hump there well.

please mark helpful if find contribution useful or answer if answer question. encourage me - , others - take time out you.
