best practice to attach multiple nics to a NAS volume

hello.

i building new 2 node cluster , wondering how set nas cluster shared storage. hosts running server 2012 r2, , have (4) 1 gb nic ports on each host use iscsi connections. these connections patched dedicated switch iscsi traffic tegile nas. on nas end, there 2 ip addresses (connected same iscsi dedicated switch 10gb twinax), 1 each controller.

it seems there 3 possibilities here.

i use 4 nics, giving each separate ip address, , use mpio connect each nic each controller address. allow nas handle traffic (which has been recommended me) creates 8 connections each host.

or make (2) teams of 2 nics, , use mpio connect each team each controller address

or team 4 nics single team , use mpio connect each controller address.

is there best practice method use? there performance benefits using 1 or method? there method did not think of?

thank advise!

hi lavinrc,

for network design, depends on your requirements. may need isolate smb storage traffic, can use windows powershell set smb multichannel constraints. based on knowledge, use method configuration " i team 4 nics single team , use mpio connect each controller address". of course, depends on your requirements.

and refer article  network recommendations hyper-v cluster

in addition, refer thread discussed before nic teaming suggestion in cluster.
